Soshinkan Karate

The path to harmony of body and mind through the techniques of Okinawan Karate

Philosophy

Soshinkan Karate aims to gain a strong body, the spirit of harmony and the heart of peace through the Kata that contains 600 years of Okinawa history and its techniques.

In Soshinkan, we follow the teachings of Master Kenji Ushiro, emphasizing the connection between mind and body. The goal is not just to learn fighting techniques, but to develop inner strength, discipline, and harmony.

Our practice focuses on precise kata execution, understanding the meaning behind each movement, and developing ki energy through proper breathing and concentration.

History

Soshinkan Karate has its roots in traditional Okinawan martial arts, which date back several centuries. Master Kenji Ushiro established the Soshinkan style, drawing from ancient techniques while incorporating modern understanding of biomechanics and energy flow.

The name "Soshinkan" represents the core principles of the style: "So" for creation, "Shin" for heart/spirit, and "Kan" for house/school - together forming a place where creative spirit is cultivated.

The Hungarian branch was established to bring these teachings to Europe and has been growing steadily, preserving the authentic techniques and philosophy of Soshinkan Karate.

Training

Soshinkan training is structured around three main elements: kata (forms), kihon (basics), and kumite (sparring). Through these practices, students develop physical strength, proper technique, and spiritual awareness.

Training sessions typically include:

  • Warm-up exercises and stretching
  • Kihon practice - basic techniques and stances
  • Kata practice - detailed study of traditional forms
  • Application practice - understanding the practical use of techniques
  • Breathing and meditation exercises

Training is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, with each student progressing at their own pace through the belt system.
